Airport Authority Imposed New Guidelines For Bring Liquids, Aerosol and Gels Through Security into and out of the Philippines

These new rules are needed to protect the riding public from the threat of liquid explosives.

Each container of liquids, aerosols or gels in your carry-on baggage must be 100 milliliters or less. All the containers must be sealed in a transparent, one-liter plastic bag. You are only allowed one bag. Any resealable bag of one-liter capacity or less is allowed.

You may still carry through the screening point prescription medicines. Baby products and non-prescription medicine that you need for the flight are also allowed. Proof of need may be required.

When you get to the screening point, you will have to surrender any liquids, aerosols or gels greater than 100mL that you still have with you, including duty free. The new rules also introduce random frisk searches as part of the screening process.

Please prepare your plastic bag before you check-in. You will then have time to put any containers that are too big into your check-in baggage.

Here’s what you need to do before checking in

  • Sort through any liquids, aerosols and gels that you plan to take with you on your flight. If possible, do this before you leave for the airport.

  • All liquids, aerosols and gels that you intend to take in you carry-on baggage must be in containers 100mL in volume or smaller. (This is about equal to 100gm in weight)

  • Any containers larger than 100mL will need to be packed into your check-in baggage or left behind.

  • Partially filled containers larger that 100mL will not be accepted.

  • Place the containers that you want to take in your carry-on baggage into a transparent, resealable plastic bag.

  • The bag must be no greater than one-liter in size, for example 20x20 cm or 15x25 cm. You can purchase these bags at most supermarkets.

  • The plastic bag should close comfortably when full. If it doesn’t, you will need to remove some items. Only one bag per person is allowed.

  • Keep this bag accessible in your carry-on baggage. You will need to show it to security screening staff.

Here’s what you need to do at the security screening point
  • You will need to present plastic bag to security screening staff separately.

  • At the screening point, you must surrender any liquids, aerosols or gels greater than 100mL that you still have with you, including duty free. These items will be destroyed.

  • Security staff may ask for proof of need for any medicines you are carrying, such as matching the name on your prescription medication to your boarding pass.

  • Please remove bulky overcoats.

  • You may also be asked to undergo a frisk search.

At many airport you will be able to purchased or collect items like duty free and drinks after you have passed through the screening point for your international flight.

Are You Awake?

An album cover of a band caught my attention. I’ve been an avid listener to this band since when I heard their self-titled album, ‘System of the Down', Without further adieu.

‘As the century nears its formidable end, our global experience of universal proportions, predicted by many greats, will arrive at our solar system, to our system of a down. Authoritarian oppression, family abuse, depression caused by conformity and economic devastation will be neutralized by technological terrorism in times of complete chaos control will never again be gained for toleration will become extinct. A husband quarreling with his wife will not think twice or regret his gun to spent bullet. Hungry children will not spare the grocer remorse in all forms will be removed from human thoughts and actions.

Freedom will only be available through revolution or death. This system of a down is unavoidable as life on this planet becomes unnecessary.

The hand has five fingers, capable and powerful, with the ability to destroy as well as create. We have the power to stop and reverse the tides of times by making our awareness of abuse known to the power of industry and their uncouth political arms only by raising this awareness and promoting personal peace within today’s self-defeatist society, can we allow the planet a chance to avoid self-destruction!

OPEN YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR MOUTH, CLOSE YOUR HANDS AND MAKE A FIST!’

-System of a Down

Do your thing by analyzing the data provided. Are you awake now?

Dumaguete City: Foreigner's Haven

One morning of March 2007, while I'm eating in Mc Donald's Dumaguete City Negros Oriental, a question pop-up in my head. - What makes Dumaguete find it ways to the eye of appreciation of the foreign people? After days of staying in Dumaguete City, this question still lingered in my mind. So I decided to put it in words.

Let me start by giving you brief history of the city. Dumaguete is located in the province of Negros Oriental. It is the province’s capital and major seaport. The word Dumaguete came from the word “daggit” which means, “to snatch”. During the 17th century, there were frequent pirate attacks along the city’s coastal area. But when the Spaniards came they called the place “Dumaguete”.

Certainly the city of Dumaguete, has come a long way. It has now become one of the country’s premier tourist destinations, learning center of the South, and a city with a booming economy. It is truly a wondrous place to visit. Dumaguete creates a vibrant environment for both local and foreign. As it known for low crime rate and low profile locals; where else can you find boundless beauty and experienced peace of mind...only in Dumaguete City.

Myth: You can catch the flu or a cold from going outdoor in cold weather.
Fact: Exposure to cold weather does not bring on a cold or flu. It can, however, cause pneumonia, which can come about when someone already has the flu. This is the most serious complication of the flu and is more likely to occur in the elderly and people whose immune systems have been weakened by other medical conditions.

Myth: An upset stomach is a symptom of flu.
Fact: Stomach distress is rarely a symptom of the flu. Other viruses, bacteria and food poisoning are more common causes of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Myth: Large doses of vitamin C can prevent colds and cure them quickly.
Fact: This is not proven, although consuming the daily requirement of vitamin C is good for overall health.

December 2007
The holidays are here! Its that time of year again for Noche Buena, a hearty feast shared with the family and relatives. Christmas may not be a good time for anyone to be on diet, however, it need not mean you can overeat and struggle through January to compensate. Here are ways to keep your diet health during the Christmas season. Remember, moderation is the key:

>Use a smaller plate – your mind will consider it a full plate regardless of its size!
>Where there are choices, take a little of many things rather than lots of one thing. This ensures you are getting a balanced meal and not overloading on a fatty food.
>For every glass of alcohol or soft drinks, have a glass of water. Water refills you up. It has no calories or side effects. It is the cheap and will help wash out the excesses.
>Help clear the table as soon as everyone finished eating rather than sitting and picking at leftovers.
>Make your own mixed drinks with real fruits juice instead of canned drink.

For additional guidance on health tips, consult your doctor.
